Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus

  • Naturally-derived active ingredient, oil of lemon eucalyptus
  • Active ingredient is sustainable, natural, non-GMO, & carbon negative
  • Made from leaves of lemon eucalyptus tree
  • Up to 6 hours of protection
  • Citrusy floral scent
  • Gear safe

Oil of lemon eucalyptus is the only naturally-derived active ingredient recommended by the CDC to repel disease-carrying insects. Lemon eucalyptus insect repellent is made using essential oil derived from the lemon eucalyptus tree (Corymbia citriodora or Eucalyptus citriodora). The oil is rich in a natural compound called p-menthane-3,8-diol (PMD), which has been found to be effective in repelling mosquitoes and other insects.

The eucalyptus citriodora trees are planted and tended by hand, with the soil conditioned with lime to improve quality. The leaves and branches are harvested, placed in a large vessel, and compressed. Steam passes through the vessel, and as it cools, the water and the oil of lemon eucalyptus separate, making for a truly simple distillation process. The trees and oil are not altered or genetically modified, so they are completely Non-GMO, producing a truly natural active ingredient. The creation of oil of lemon eucalyptus is carbon negative, as the process actually releases four times less carbon into the atmosphere than it takes in. Power for the distillation process comes from recycled leaves and dead trees, and excess leaves are put into the soil to improve its quality and retain moisture. Not only is this product effective, sustainable and natural, but it is also ethically sourced. Growing citriodora trees is sustainable to farmers and has a positive impact on surrounding communities.

Our lemon eucalyptus insect repellents provide 6 hours of protection from mosquitoes and 4 hours of protection from ticks. Lemon eucalyptus repellent can be safely applied to clothing and gear without fear of damage and the light scent of citrus and floral smells much more pleasant than your typical bug spray.
